Today our pastor talked about the game the pharasies played in relation to Jesus and the Romans. Speaking of how we understand the game of life and the different society rules and the influence that has on our actions.

Bark Park

Lazy Saturday and we took the dogs to the dog park. They have done a lot of work restoring the grass and making it nice again though the dogs never seemed to mind. The puppies rode in the back of the car.

Hanna Flat

So this is where we went camping. We had probably the best campsite in the place. Site #9.

A Fire Came Through

I took the kids camping up in Big Bear at Hannah Flat Campground. We went for a nice hike and ended up going through an area that a fire came through a few years ago.

Sandals

I started out with the toe shoes which led to my minimal shoes obsession. I got some Merrell shoes for work that meet the bill of minimal yet aesthetically functional for work. Then I found sandals. These ate the closest to being barefoot i have found but still have protection from the hour pavement.

They are kinda like Jesus shoes.

Side Step

We took the Jeep out to get dirty this last weekend and had a great time. Drove up and down some hills, over some rocks and tested my driving skills. I think I did OK. My friend Al thought so too. Didn't break anything, so that was a bonus. Then we were having lunch by the lake and I stepped up on the side step running board, and with a little jump on it, the whole thing broke off. That was rather disappointing. Turns out the thing is made of plastic and the metal threaded inserts just pulled right out.

Al said, "check out the Smittybilt steps, good price, look good and they are solid" so I did after we got home. The price seemed decent so I ordered them Sunday afternoon and they arrived Tuesday. On they went. They do look good and the mounting brackets look much stronger than the stock ones.

I will talk to the dealer about the poor quality of the originals.

Kong

I've been spending a lot of time at work up at CityWalk. A lot of people go there on vacation, I go there because that's what I do.

Dinosaur

For 46 years I've driven by the dinosaurs of Cabazon and never stopped. Finally yesterday I did.

The moon was a sliver of itself this morning as the sun rose.

Toyota

If i could own a classic 4x4 it would be an early 1980s Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.

Car Wash

We take the cars to the car wash, it saves water apparently. They do a good job but the "finest in the world"? I don't know.

Big Blue Wall

There's a big blue wall at work that they use for making movie magic. I've see it in movies like The Truman Show and seen them filming Pirates Of The Caribbean 3. Near it is the cabin from The Great Outdoors. Sometimes they fill the area in front of it up with water to make a lake.

Free?

Wasn't the gift of Christ free?  I found this box both funny and frightening at the same time.

FaceTime

Family get together today, but some of the family moved to Seattle and couldn't join us. Bring in the technology.

My friends son graduated from high school this year and is headed to college in a few weeks.

Occasionally the kids and I go for frozen yogurt. It's pretty darn good. One of the last text I sent my brother was from Cherry On Top.

Pan-Pacific Paralympic Swimming

We took the kids to the Pan-Pacific Paralympic Swimming at the Rose Bowl today, just because it's good for all of us to see people doing this stuff.

Uncle Leo

New Office

So, I got a promotion at work. One of the benefits is an office. With a window.

Painted Nails

The little girl is very creative. She came downstairs yesterday with her fingers painted. Not just the nails but her whole fingers. Today only the paint on her nails remained.

She is pretty awesome!

Conference Call from the Poolside

Today was my work from home day. The weather was amazing, not too hot and great to be outside, so I was.

Fountain

They rebuilt the Monrovia Public Library a number of years ago and it included a new park with a big fountain. Across the street is the 4th Dimension where I used to go play pool with my brother.

Went for a ride today. It was hot but I made it to the top. Saw 5 deer on the way.
