The 70's

I went to Disneyland with my grandmother in the late 70's, it might have been 1979. They only charged 50 cents to park.

Roses

I saw this deer eating the neighbors roses. They like to bite the whole flower at once.

Alley

There used to be a slot car racing place in the basement of one of the shops in Old Town Monrovia. They painted this on the wall.

Extra

We were married 21+ years ago. Today we were going through boxes in the garage and came across this one, and its labeled correctly "Extra Wedding Gifts". Is that stuff you will never use but just can't get rod of, until today.

Response

Sometimes life is about how we respond to what we are dealt. A bottle opener added on to a prosthetic is a positive response.

Anthony, the camp director, lost his lower leg to an IED in Iraq.  It does not slow him down as he works with boys at scout camp.

Big Bear Lake

Had to take a 4 mile hike to get cell reception. The view is totally worth it.

Hmmmm 7/22

So, this must be an old tent, I think the scouts had a vote on this last year.

Assembly July 21

Kings Canyon

On our camping trip we were "off the grid" and it was great. The only reason to have my hone was to take pictures.
And the fires were amazing. We woke up to the sprinkling of rain.

Washing Feet

Relaxing at Kings Canyon playing in the river and cooling of our feet.

Black Bear

Last year we took a road trip to The Oregon Coast, Seattle, Vamcouver and Visctoria. On out mad dash home we stayed in Medford, OR, we were starving after 11 hours on the road and thought we'd try the Black Bear Diner that was in the parking lot of the hotel. We walked in, the place smelled bad and we walked out.

Today we were road tripping to Kings Canyon and stopped at The Black Bear in Visalia. Talk about comfort food. Mark commented that it's more about quantity than quality.

There was this mural on the outside.

Headstock

A while back I took pictures of my new fret less bass. Here's another one, of the headstock.

CDK

For almost 12 years my boy has gone to physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, play therapy, and even aquatic therapy for his cerebral palsy. We are getting close to what might be the end of PT. We don't know if it's for good but it might be time to look at other options. We are thinking of perusing aquatic therapy some more. One place we have gotten services has been the Center For Developing Kids in Pasadena.
The therapists there have all been wonderful, talented people. We are gonna miss this place.

Summer Sunrise

This morning there were clouds in the sky, not normal for this part of Southern California. As I was getting into the car and looked to the east this is what I saw.
It was pretty amazing.

People That I Used To Know

In a seemingly previous life I worked in the music industry for a couple jazz labels and a marketing company.  One of the first artists I worked with was Tony Guerrero.  That was almost 25 years ago.  We became Facebook friends a while back and yesterday I saw that he was going to be playing in the park near home.

So I pulled myself out of the pool,  slipped on my sandals and headed to the park. I found a spot on the lawn and listened to him play some swing. I enjoyed it so much better than the happy jazz he used to play.

Pineapple

Our neighbor has this palm tree, it looks a little like a pineapple. It's part of the scenery when I sit out by the pool.

Nice to know they are there

So, we ended up here. Not really a place you want to go, but it sure beats fighting the bugs yourself.

Volume

My daughter and I had the chance to make music tonight at church. She was singing, I was playing bass.
This is the only effect in the chain, a volume pedal. Simple, they way I like it with the 4 string fretless bass straight into the SWR amp.

Pediatric Dentist

When I was a kid and went to the dentist I don't remember there being nice windows to look out, just looking out at a parking lot. And I,don't remember stuffed animals, toys or a video game in the lobby. Times have changed.
Though it is a little unnerving having that pigeon staring at you.

Coaster Brake Challenge 12

So, about 1/2 mile in on the course for today's Coaster Brake Challenge was this couch. Nestled in the shade.
I'm sure it would have been a relaxing place to sit.

More Pool time

Spent more time in the pool today. It was a warm one.
I continue to be amazed at the boy and his confidence. He let me throw him in the deep end.

Underwater

Spent a lot of time in the pool on this 4th of July.
And I discovered my camera phone is water resistant.

Straight Shave

A little over a year ago I added another hobby, straight shaving. I haven't used a modern, multi-blade razor since. I got me a nice badger hair brush, a mug, some shaving soap, a strop and a razor.
There's been a little blood over the last 18 months but no major scars so far.
