Flying Double Side Kick

I didn't take this one, but I'm in it. Hapkido Black Belt Test today and I demonstrated a small part of my third degree test that I hope to take about this time next year.

I'm the blur in the air about 4 feet off the ground.

Beer Dogs

My brother gave me a six pack of "Fred" beer for my 40th birthday, this is the last bottle. It was delicious.

I drank it today.

Jazz Cats

I never thought of my father-in-law as a jazz guy. He was always more of a classical or orchestra kind of a guy.

But these cats were hanging out on his piano.

Out for a run around the lot today and there were trucks. I've been following this Facebook photo challenge and the picture for this week is "something purple", I submitted this just because.

Relax

Spent a large portion of the day relaxing by the pool.

Tongues

It was a warm day at the bark park, the dog were running around and all had their tongues hanging out.

It didn't really ruin my life

Really mountain biking I think has kept me sane, somewhat.

And gets me away from technology sometimes.

Burned Out

Finally took a run around the backlot again. I came across some cars being used for a movie.

I don't think they are going to be driven.

Orange Slice

For Father's Day the kids got me a pool float. A giant orange slice.

The problem is, they don't realize the whole reason we built the pool was so I could just float and relax. They seem to think its so they can climb on and push me off of the float.

Phones

A box of new phones arrived at work today. I'm not so sure they are the right ones.

Fretless

I really wanted to play this one at church today, but it's been a while and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to play in tune with the band. So I will keep practicing and play the fretted bass when playing with others.

Hillbilly Hill

For the past 6 or 7 years I've participated in the Hillbilly Hill Adventure Race. My brother did it for a few years so there's sentimental reasons in me participating. I'm never gonna be a challenger for one of the top finishers but I'm there every year and finishing. That seems to be part of the point in life showing up and being a part and finishing.

Pantera - Ghia

Last Sunday I saw the Pantera club. The cars had a few different badges.

Daylight

For some reason this light was turned on, outside, in the middle of the day. Not a cloud in the sky, sun shining bright.

Pantera

Came across these cars today at the park. Turns out the Foothill Pantera club was having a picnic. I knew nothing about the cars but apparently they were only imported into the US from 1971-1973, and the put some mighty Ford V8s in them.

There were about 15 of them ranging from a green as close to stock as you will find to some highly modified.

Basset Hounds

Back before we had human kids our basset hounds were our children. We would attend the Basset Hound Picnic every year to see all the slobber hounds. Bassett come in so many variations of a theme I shape and size.

And some need a home.

Five Acres

18 years ago I worked at a school for kids that had been removed from their home for some reason or another. It was my "in between" job. Later it became my first foray into the IT world. As I was driving up Fair Oaks in Pasadena today I saw this nice new building with the Five Acres logo on it, it seems they are doing well and doing good things still.

At one time these were just a fancy Volkswagen.

Either someone is having a huge birthday party with a piñata or there's a Monty Python filming with a giant Trojan Bunny.

Out For A Walk

The dogs took me out for a walk today after lunch. They spotted a friend.

My friend Kirk's dad used to drive a '63 Corvette. He would wear a t-shirt that said, "Wrap your ass in fiberglass!"

Crosses in the Wilderness

The theme for the men's retreat was "The Wilderness", we all face some type of wilderness just like the Israelites and Jesus the lesson is to learn to trust God to protect us and prepare us to gets through.
